I know it's wrong, and I know when he grabs my hair at the back of my head with all his might that helps to stop this.

My mind begs as I let out a whimper. I pretend it's the pain he’s causing, yanking at me like this, but really, it's my heart that hurts. I can barely feel anything on the surface.

"It's her isn't it?" I say with a sting. "You would want a Bitch Babe."

He shakes his head. "I don't know what I want. And I don't know if you can wait for me to know. What I do know is I can't be like Gabriel. I don't just forgive or compartmentalize. And I don't trust Drake. I don't know that I ever will. Which is a problem for you."

"Because I love him," I snap.

"No, because your magic is connected to his now. Don't you think I've heard all the rumors? There's some truth to it. And it doesn't even matter now if you get chosen for the light, you will always be a part of his life. I don't want to be. And isn't our relationship hinging on that?"

"So, this is over, then?"

"I. Do. Not. Know!" he roars, sending me to the door as his mouth gives me a blast of cold he’s so good at giving.

"Let me know when you do; take your time. But if you kiss her, I won't take you back."

I swing the door open only to run into a body.

"Thought I'd find you here."

I breathe out in relief and wrap my arms around Gabriel, knowing he's my safe haven right now. He stiffens. I know he and Zeth are exchanging looks, communicating without saying anything like the Legendary triad sometimes does.

"The students are being called for a meeting," he finally says, pushing me away only to take my hand. "See you there." He looks back at the very shirtless Zeth who I can't even acknowledge right now before we walk away.

"Is everything alright?" I ask as we get to the stairwell.

"I could ask you the same thing."

"I don't want to talk about it. I need a distraction."

"I wish I could say you would get one from what's coming next. I’ve already been briefed and you're not going to like it."

I groan as we head to the very room where I spent my first day here, listening to someone blabber on about gods and superhuman powers. The place where I was sure I was going crazy, ran out of, and met Gabriel.

Funny how things come full circle but never in the way we want or expect.

"Just tell me," I beg as we approach the doors. There I can see what's left, in the building, of the student body filling in seats wherever they can. This room wasn't exactly meant for all of us.

"I just can't take any more secrets; no surprises right now."

He pulls me to the side so we aren't in anyone's way.
